Hello, and welcome to my web page. It turns out that writing about me is harder than I expected. Who am I? It is a question that haunts. Something to meditate on... perhaps forever. But you, my dear friend, are looking for something basic just to know a bit about me, right?

My name is Vijay Gonugade. I'm a graduate from the University of Mumbai with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. I have studied Electronics as a vocational course for two years as part of my +2 education. I have completed independent coursework in entrepreneurship, and social entrepreneurship.

At present, I am working as a Project Research Assistant at Technology and Development Solutions Cell, Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas, IIT Bombay. I am working on evaluation of Thakkar Bappa Yojana in Palghar, Maharashtra. Thakkar Bappa Yojana or Thakkar Bappa Integrated Tribal Habitation Improvement Scheme is a program of the Tribal Development Department, Government of Maharashtra started in 2004-05 for integrated development of tribal habitations in the state. In my free time, I am exploring the possibility of selling healthy fruit salad through SlicedFruits.inThe idea behind Sliced Fruits is to help people achieve a state of well-being through healthy eating habits.

My first two weeks long industry experience was with Mazagon Dock Ltd., warship and submarine manufacturer, as a student trainee. I learned the working of plater & assembly (P&A) shop. And I studied the 5S Methodology to effectively manage the workplace and its implementation in the P&A shop.

Immediately after engineering, I worked for two months with Starting Solar Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai as a solar PV business development intern. At Startling Solar, I was responsible for carrying out market research, creating lead database, preparing marketing content and manage email marketing campaigns to promote products or services.

Then, I volunteered as a Research Engineer at Energy Lab of Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute (NARI), Phaltan, Maharashtra for about three months. At NARI, I was involved with lab testing of Lanstove, performance analysis of the solar water purification system and Solidworks drawing of Lanstove. Other than research work, I was involved in planning and supervising the work of technicians, documenting research findings and various data collected, recording weather data from weather station.

After that, I worked with an early stage social enterprise called Life Lab based in Pune, as a Coordinator (intern) of the Mumbai region for one year. At Life Lab, my role was to provide consultancy support to science teachers of 5 government schools located in South Mumbai, helping teachers execute life-lab activities in classrooms.

Also, I wrote three articles for an online science newspaper - Experimentation Online and volunteered for a day helping Pollinate Energy team communicate with local communities in Mumbai.

Apart from internships and volunteer work, as a student, I started an online platform called FledglingsBuz.com where young entrepreneurs can share their stories - encouraging young Indian minds to choose the path of entrepreneurship.

In my free time I enjoy cycling, astronomy, brainstorming business ideas, and reading books.
